SPACE 11 CORP announces selection of Nanoracks as partner for Outer Space Collaborations on Movies, TV Series and More. Zero Gravity Fight Competition “Galactic Combat” Set Beyond Earth’s Atmosphere is First TV Series from Space 11
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21, 2022 – It was revealed today that Space 11 Corp, an aerospace company pioneering outer space entertainment productions including film, TV, sports, and special events, was founded by veteran movie producer Andrea Iervolino and run by its Vice President and Head of Operations, MMA legend and movie producer John Lewis, is developing a first-of-its-kind partnership with Nanoracks, a Voyager Space company, and the largest commercial user of the International Space Station.
Space 11 proposes to build and deploy a specialized free-flying space station to service film and television projects as a dedicated and one-of-a-kind in-space platform equivalent to a live theater/soundstage as part of this agreement. S11S is the designation for this specialized station. The S11S will also be equipped with several compartments for usage as sleeping quarters and lodgings.
Space 11 aims to hire Nanoracks to manage the construction of the S11S module, which will be funded by the American company Space 11 Corp, which has Italian roots. Iervolino Entertainment S.p.A., Andrea Iervolino’s global film, and television production firm that is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange (IE.MI), has announced cooperation to support Space 11.
S11S should be active and operational by late 2027.
“Exploring space opportunities has been quite eye-opening,” says Andrea Iervolino. “We are in discussions with Nanoracks because they are practical and have unmatched experience in taking unique ideas and developing them into real space programs. Our gradual approach will allow us to explore thrilling in-space media opportunities possible today while also working towards our long-term vision of hosting entertainment events on a customized space station platform dedicated to our viewers.”
“I have always thought outside the box, and I’m thrilled to take these first steps to bring sports entertainment to space,” says John Lewis. “We’re looking to develop a new market of space-based entertainment and media services that will challenge our production creatively, physically, logistically, and technically. Our viewers expect the best we look forward to producing concepts never dreamed of before. I’m pleased to be exploring these opportunities alongside Space 11 and Nanoracks.”
Space 11 Corp is the parent company for all Space 11 brands and products, with a goal of developing a variety of media centered on space.
Space 11 Studio, a film, and television studio specializing in high-concept science fiction films and television formats shot in space with zero gravity, and Space 11 City, a film production facility meticulously designed to accommodate high-end film and television productions, are both parts of Space 11 Corp.
The company has also launched MMA-ZERO G, a mixed martial arts league that promotes a new high-concept sport based on MMA. The battles take place in zero-gravity outer space and parabolic flight.
The first series from Space 11 will be the sports competition reality TV series “Galactic Combat,” the first format to introduce MMA-ZERO G fighting. “Galactic Combat” follows warriors as they compete in a 12-episode competition to be the first to battle beyond Earth’s bounds.
Former MMA athlete and movie producer John Lewis acts as VP and Promoter of MMA-ZERO G and series Co-Executive Producer, while Thomas Loureiro (“Big Brother,” “The Ultimate Fighter,” “Hell’s Kitchen”) is the series showrunner.
The competition begins with fighters from all over the world practicing and learning to fight in zero gravity using routines and conditioning that are similar to those used in astronaut training. During the training phase, combatants will be eliminated, leaving only eight to compete in the main MMA-ZERO G battle.
The final two fighters will compete in a bout that will take place outside of our atmosphere. Two warriors will fight onboard a bespoke capsule rocket orbiting Earth in the dramatic and intense series finale.
About Space 11
Space 11 was born from an idea by founder Andrea Iervolino to move entertainment beyond earth’s borders, similar to companies designing accommodation and recreational facilities for outer space. Its Vice President and head of operations is John Lewis.
One of a kind and revolutionary, the mission of Space 11 is to create film, television, and web content, as well as live events (concerts, sports competitions, etc.) that will be filmed in outer space. Space 11 is the first company dedicated fully to the development of entertainment formats and events in zero gravity.
Space 11 Corp plans to contribute to the science of aerospace with its research and development division. The intel gathered by Space 11’s efforts will be monumental in helping humanity understand deeper how the human body reacts to intense stress in a zero-gravity environment.
Iervolino has already begun enlisting top collaborators, including the sector’s leading engineers, astrophysicists, astronomers, technicians and related experts who will systematically study all the means and methods required for the realization of the company’s mission – one entirely focused on creating something mind-blowing and unique at the global level.
