Airpeak drone from Sony unveiled at CES 2021. Sony’s new Airpeak drone was announced with sparse details in Nov 2020 (check here for details Airpeak Drone from Sony?). The announcement said, “Sony Launches Drone Project” in the area of AI robotics. Sony unveiled the drone to the public yesterday (Jan 12, 2021) with a drone film for their Vision S autonomous car prototype.

The car was filmed with the new drone with a Sony alpha camera mounted on the drone. Airpeak is the world’s smallest drone capable to carry the Alpha™ camera system.

Sony’s Alpha cameras are used widely by pro and enthusiast photographers and videographers. These cameras are known for their autofocus, low light, and picture quality.

Sony’s press release stated that its Airpeak brand their goal is to further develop today’s drone technology by achieving the utmost in value creation. 

As the first phase of this project, Sony will launch a new business targeted for professional photography and video production in the spring of 2021. In order to fully support the creativity of video creators, the payload of the drone can be equipped with an Alpha™ mirrorless camera to capture high quality, full-frame aerial photography and video. Airpeak, the industry’s smallest class of drone that can be equipped with the Alpha system, is capable of dynamic filming and precise, stable flight, and aims to contribute to the world of entertainment while also pursuing new possibilities for creative expression.
