Lucid Group Builds Intelligent Electric Vehicles Using NVIDIA DRIVE.

Luxury electric vehicles feature DreamDrive Pro driver assistance system with high-performance AI compute.

Although Lucid Group is a newcomer to the electric car market, it has made a big entrance.

At GTC, the electric carmaker stated that its present and future fleets will be based on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion, a programmable, intelligent platform. Lucid ensures that its cars are continually cutting edge by developing on a scalable, software-defined platform and receiving continuous improvements over the air.

The Lucid Air, the company’s first vehicle, was released late last year to tremendous praise. With industry-leading battery range and rapid charging, the premium sedan was named MotorTrend’s Car of the Year for 2022.

Lucid isn’t stopping there; the company also revealed Project Gravity, a long-range electric SUV set to debut in 2024.

The Lucid Air’s DreamDrive Pro advanced driver assistance technology, which uses NVIDIA DRIVE’s high-performance computation to create a seamless autonomous driving experience, is a standout feature. It’s included on Dream Edition and Grand Touring trims, but optional on other versions.

Future-Ready Intelligence

The scalable and high-performance AI computing of NVIDIA DRIVE is at the heart of DreamDrive Pro, which is meant to improve over time via over-the-air software upgrades.

For robust automated driving and intelligent cockpit features, it employs a comprehensive set of 14 cameras, one lidar, five radars, and 12 ultrasonics.

Along with a wide range of sensors, Lucid’s dual-rail power system and proprietary Ethernet Ring provide high levels of redundancy for critical systems like brakes and steering.

“The seamless integration of the software-defined NVIDIA DRIVE platform provides a powerful basis for Lucid to further enhance what DreamDrive can do in the future — all of which can be delivered to vehicles over the air,

said Mike Bell, Senior Vice President of Digital, Lucid Group.

Together, Lucid and NVIDIA will support these intelligent vehicles, enhancing the customer experience with new functions throughout the life of the car.

Lucid intends to improve on its track record of delivering industry-leading electric vehicles by investing in NVIDIA DRIVE for future generations.

The automaker can take advantage of the scalability of NVIDIA DRIVE and always incorporate the newest AI technology as it expands with more models by starting with a programmable, high-performance compute architecture in the Lucid Air.

Lucid consumers will be able to drive on-air thanks to the company’s ability to consistently bring unique and interesting features to its vehicles.
