With four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades, select Galaxy users will be able to enjoy the latest mobile experience for longer.

SEOUL, Korea – February 10, 2022 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. said today that it will offer up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades on certain Galaxy smartphones, demonstrating its commitment to providing users with the most up-to-date and secure mobile experience possible.

This upgraded standard expands on Samsung’s prior promise to provide up to three generations of upgrades, ensuring that millions of Galaxy customers have access to the most up-to-date security, productivity, usability, and other features for the duration of their device ownership. Samsung plans to grow this initiative across its numerous product ranges inside the Galaxy ecosystem and works closely with partners to offer Android OS upgrades through Samsung One UI, which is now available on certain Galaxy S, Z, and A series smartphones and tablets. Samsung also offers free upgrades to One UI Watch and Wear OS Powered by Samsung for up to four years, ensuring that users have access to the most up-to-date Galaxy Watch experiences.

Samsung will now give up to five years of security updates for select Galaxy devices, in addition to extended One UI improvements. When combined with Samsung Knox, the award-winning defense-grade security platform, these updates provide more secure end-to-end protection against potential security threats. Customers who purchase the Samsung Galaxy Enterprise Edition will also receive a one-year subscription for Samsung Knox Suite solutions, which will allow them to simply deploy and manage devices via a dashboard that records security upgrades and other features.

Eligible Galaxy devices with four generations of One UI and five years of security updates include:

· Galaxy S Series: Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra as well as Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S21 FE, and upcoming S series devices
· Galaxy Z Series: Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, and upcoming Z series devices
· Galaxy A Series: upcoming select A series devices
· Galaxy Tablets: Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, S8 Ultra, and upcoming Tab S series devices

“We work hard to bring our Galaxy users innovative mobile experiences that are built to last. And many of our customers are choosing to keep their devices for longer, whether they love their specific smartphone model or want to help contribute to a more sustainable world,” said TM Roh, President and Head of MX Business at Samsung. “Today we are taking our commitment to innovation one step further with up to four generations of One UI upgrades to ensure our users enjoy the best possible mobile experience for longer.”

As long as hardware standards for upgrades are met and the experience can be maximized, Samsung prioritizes providing Galaxy users with the most up-to-date mobile experiences possible. Up to three generations of One UI upgrades are supported on Galaxy devices that are not qualified for four generations of One UI upgrades.
