SAN DIEGO – Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced that its flagship Snapdragon® 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform is powering Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s latest and most cutting-edge smartphones, the Galaxy S22 series in select regions and Galaxy Tab S8 series globally. The new Snapdragon 8 leads the way into a new era of premium mobile technology equipped with cutting-edge 5G, AI, gaming, camera, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® technologies.

For fast and dependable connected experiences, the Galaxy S22 series incorporates sophisticated Snapdragon connectivity capabilities spanning 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System in the Galaxy S22 series offers unrivaled speeds and global support for new networks, frequencies, and bandwidths. Snapdragon 8 is the most advanced 5G mobile platform and the world’s first 5G modem-RF solution, with download rates of up to 10 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 3.5 Gbps. The Qualcomm® FastConnectTM 6900 Mobile Connectivity System, which is new to this generation, supports powerful Wi-Fi speeds and low latency performance by supporting leading features like Qualcomm® 4-Stream Dual Band Simultaneous.

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series benefit from the Snapdragon 8’s substantial architectural advancements. When compared to the previous generation, the new Qualcomm® AdrenoTM GPU provides a 30% increase in graphics rendering capabilities and a 25% reduction in battery consumption. The Qualcomm® AI Engine 7th Generation is powered by the Qualcomm® HexagonTM processor, which has a 2x faster tensor accelerator and 2x bigger shared memory than its predecessor, enabling a slew of new applications. When compared to its predecessor, the Qualcomm® KryoTM CPU delivers up to 20% quicker performance and 30% higher power efficiency. Samsung’s new Galaxy device series takes smartphone photography beyond pro with Snapdragon SightTM technology. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8’s triple ISPs, which produce over a billion hues of color, these new devices unleash new photographic experiences. In addition, the Galaxy S22 series includes a Qualcomm® 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 in-display sensor. The device’s 8×8 sensor was designed to identify a larger fingerprint image than its predecessor, resulting in a better user experience. Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor, unlike other verification methods, employs acoustic-based technology to reflect the unique properties of a user’s particular fingerprint.
