Xiaomi launches Mix 4 phone with under-display selfie camera. During a launch event on Tuesday, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun presented the Mi Mix 4, as well as the Mi Pad 5 and Mi TV OLED lineup. For the time being, these are China-only launches. There is no word on when these products will be released in India or other parts of the world.
A 20MP selfie camera is hidden beneath the curved 6.67-inch AMOLED display. To increase transparency and, as a result, the light reaching the selfie cam sensor, the workaround necessitated a completely new type of flexible display and a reconfigured circuit array. Xiaomi developed a new micro-diamond pixel layout in combination with rethought algorithms to ensure that light refraction is kept to a minimum. The region above the camera has a 400ppi density, making even the smallest letters readable. Gorilla Glass Victus protects the entire display, which has a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 4 is the company’s second flagship smartphone this year, following the Mi 11 Ultra, which was released in March 2021. In April, the Chinese tech giant unveiled a foldable phone with top-of-the-line specs. Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G, based on the 5nm architecture, powers the Mi Mix 4. This comes in four memory configurations: 128GB storage with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage with 12GB RAM, or 512GB storage with 12GB RAM.
