Xiaomi’s new heat dissipation LiquidCool Technology for smartphones. Beijing, CHINA, November 5th, 2021 – Xiaomi, a global technological pioneer, has revealed Loop LiquidCool Technology, its latest breakthrough in heat dissipation. Loop LiquidCool Technology uses a capillary effect to draw liquid cooling agent to the heat source, vaporize it, and then disperse the heat efficiently towards a cooler area until the agent condenses and is captured via a unidirectional closed-looped channel, which was inspired by cooling solutions used in the aerospace industry. This revolutionary technology has twice the cooling capacity of traditional vapor chamber technologies and is the most efficient smartphone cooling option. Xiaomi plans to incorporate Loop LiquidCool Technology into its products in the second half of 2022.

An annular heat pipe system, consisting of an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber, as well as gas and liquid pipes, is featured in this novel technology. The evaporator, which is placed near heat sources, contains a refrigerant that evaporates to gas while the smartphone is working hard. The gas and airflow are then diffused to the condenser, where it condenses back into liquid. The liquids are absorbed and gathered by microscopic fibers in the refill chamber, which then refills the evaporator, making the system self-sustaining.

Despite the fact that this new technique uses the same method as VC liquid cooling, the new form factor improves efficiency significantly. Due to the lack of distinct channels for gases and liquids in traditional VC systems, hot gas and cool liquids mix and impede each other, especially under a heavy workload. The ring-shaped pump incorporates a unique gas pipe design that reduces air passage resistance by 30%. The maximum heat transfer capacity is boosted by up to 100% by allowing for a smoother steam flow.
One-way circulation is key to heat dissipation
Implementing a Tesla valve structure within the refill chamber is critical for ensuring one-way high-efficiency circulation. A Tesla valve is a one-way valve that allows liquid to pass through the evaporator while preventing gases from flowing backward. This provides for greater gas/liquid circulation efficiency throughout the system.
The original vapor chamber on a bespoke Xiaomi MIX 4 was replaced with a new Loop LiquidCool Technology solution. This remarkable cooling mechanism kept the device below a maximum temperature of 47.7°C during a 30-minute Genshin Impact gameplay test at 60fps max video settings, and the processor was 8.6°C cooler than the ordinary version.
The Tesla valve’s variable form factor, which includes one-way circulation, gas-liquid separation, and low heat-resistance gas pipelines, allows Loop LiquidCool Technology to be integrated into any sort of internal design. A square-shaped loop, for example, will provide more space for the battery, camera module, and other components.
