Cognitive Intelligence is one’s ability to learn, remember, reason, solve problems, and make sound judgments, particularly as contrasted with emotional intelligence.
The way we perceive the world is based on information coming from our eyes and ears to our brain at the same time.
The new Cognitive Intelligence TVs are powered by Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR. The new processor uses processing methods designed to replicate how humans see and hear. When humans see objects, we unconsciously tend to focus on certain points on the objects. The Cognitive Processor divides the screen into different zones and detects where the focal point or vanishing point is in the picture.

As per Sony, conventional AI can only detect and analyze elements like color, contrast, and detail individually. Cognitive Processor XR can cross-analyze every element at once, just as our brains do. This allows the televisions to adjust each element for the best outcome in conjunction with each other, so everything is synchronized and lifelike. This is something AI cannot achieve.
The new processor also matches the sound precisely with what is on the screen. It also upconverts any sound to 3D surround sound to deliver realism. Sony says it will deliver the most lifelike picture and sound it has ever made by optimizing every pixel, frame, and scene.
“Sony’s goal is to offer viewers the best and most immersive experience – authentically delivering the creator’s true intent,” said Mike Fasulo, president, and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics, Inc. “Our new BRAVIA CORE technology and the XR lineup takes the industry to the next level with a powerful, cinematic experience, enabled by the world’s first TVs with cognitive processors.
The new Bravia XR lineup series will come with Sony Pictures content through Bravia Core content service. Bravia Core content service will be specific to these televisions and will offer the best content from Sony Pictures including new releases and all-time Sony Classics.
Bravia Core will offer lossless UHD video streaming through Purestream allowing streams up to 80 Mbps quality. Purestream will offer the highest UHD streaming quality.
Bravia XR series televisions will also include Google TV, in addition to Google assistant for TV content, the TVs will also be able to control IoT devices. Google TV brings shows and content from all the apps and subscriptions and organizes them for easy access. It makes finding content that you like simpler with personalized recommendations.
